Rural fashion

Posted by on

As some of you know, I live in a tiny rural village in the north country of upstate NY. Being a cosmopolitan Israeli accustomed to city life and travel, a diamond job in Manhattan, and moving here directly from Paris, France it has been a bit surreal, especially after finally deciding I wanted to work in fashion. I almost managed to forget that in the first few years we lived here.

It was really the need for more functional and stylish clothes that reminded me how much I love fashion.

“Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves, of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys, they’d just walk around naked at all times.” – Betsey Johnson

While living in rural NY, I would think every time I came across a nice piece of clothing; I would tell myself that I'm in yoga wear all day anyways, and there's no place to go out here so really there's no point in dressing up!

What a terrible thing to say to yourself - if you want to feel good and enjoy the confidence that comes with dressing beautifully.

These last few months I have been thinking these thoughts again. No events or parties, no business trips or face to face meetings. Just cooking, chasing kids, trying to stretch out once in a while.

Why should I ever change out of my PJs?

This descent to an utter lack of motivation, creativity and joy has been short. I combat it by wearing nice clothes again - my brand that combines yoga with elegance, and even jeans!

I go out everyday, meet at least one person, and enjoy a conversation. I walk with confidence and come home energized...Of course this is not always true; some days are better than others...

What I'm trying to say is that I love Pirate Flo clothes! I know it's own my brand, but I really love wearing it! Also, I encourage you to dress up nicely, for your own self.

“We don’t need fashion to survive, we just desire it so much.” – Marc Jacobs

And it's OK to desire.
